Tea

I am really obsessed with this tea. I’ve had bad headaches that tend to be stress or tension related, although they can come on if just about anything is wrong with me.

If I’m tired…headache.
If I’m hungry…headache.
If I’m driving…headache.
If my contacts are too old…headache.

But this tea is the only thing that can compete with tylenol and sleep for getting rid of them. And it tastes so good. Almost sweet.

Cornflowers

This is my favorite kind of wildflower around here. It’s almost weedlike with its scraggly stem and the way it likes to grow around roads and between sidewalks, and just about anywhere it can find a teeny tiny bit of dirt. But the color is so beautiful. It reminds me both of a warm summer day and a cloudy rainstorm sky at the same time. I even painted my bedroom as close of a color as I could find to wild cornflower blue.

Parks

There is nothing I like better in summer than finding great new parks and since my sister just moved to a new city, our world has been opened up to even more park wonderfulness!

My Little Ones
Picnics

I listened to this youtube video the other day that was talking about friendships and one of the things it was saying was that “real” friendships (as opposed to online ones) have been steadily decreasing over the past couple of decades. One of the things it mentioned was that people used to just spend idle time together, doing things like having picnics, not just going to a movie, or concert, or game, or some other kind of activity. So I’m trying to spend more idle time with people I like. And you know what? It’s so nice to just sit and talk.

Garden

My garden has been absolutely flourishing with this wet weather. Unfortunately so are the mosquitos, so I haven’t been weeding as much as I should.

Between what I’ve been growing and what I’ve been foraging (some recipes can be found here ), and making an effort to really use leftovers, our grocery bill has been ridiculously small. If only I had a cow and knew how to make cheese it would probably be next to nothing. We have so much, even with many many parties and giving things away to people I’m still at a bit of a loss about what to do with all of it, especially things like chard, which is still producing, but it’s not like I can freeze it or can it. I just have to eat it. I’m starting to get pretty creative with my cooking haha.
